Looking for standards-based professional learning? ideastream® offers a wealth of professional learning opportunities.

WVIZ/PBS ideastream’s Education Department provides a wide array of Professional Learning opportunities to thousands of educators in over 200 school districts in an eleven county area in Northeast Ohio. Our technology training services can be tailored to a district’s needs from novice to the scholar and can be provided in the teaching labs of WVIZ/PBS ideastream, in your school district, or via Distance Learning. We provide the availability of graduate credit for workshops that meet university requirements.

All sessions held at Idea Center at PlayhouseSquare unless otherwise noted below.

Graduate Credit Professional Learning Opportunities

Getting Started with MakerSpace & Coding

Description:  Teachers in grades 4-12 are invited to register as a pair and learn how to supplement their lessons with design and coding.  Each pair of teachers will receive two 3D Pens with extra filament, one Makey Makey invention kit, two Worlds of Making…books, one Arduino Starter Kit, and one Getting Started with Arduino book. Receive step-by-step information on how to use each device.  See how to easily design lessons. Bring a laptop with a USB port or borrow one of ours.  Come ready to play and learn.  A great workshop for teachers who are serious about integrating MakerSpace and Coding into teaching and learning.

Session Date: Thursday, November 8, 2018, 8:30 a.m. - 11:30a.m.

Cost:  $335 for two people (includes two 3D pens with extra filament, one Makey Makey, two World of Making…books, one Arduino Starter Kit, and one Getting Started with Arduino book.)

Graduate Credit:  One graduate credit for an additional $160 is available from Ashland University (Ashland will be accessing an additional $4.05 if paying by credit card).  You must attend the entire workshop and complete an out of class assignment to earn the one graduate credit.

DESCRIPTION We are looking for dedicated people who want to learn how to become Google Certified Educators.  In 24-hours of intense study, we will take you through the necessary coursework to be prepared to take Google exams at the end of the last session. Become recognized for your mastery in Docs, Gmail, Sites, Calendar, Chrome, Search and more.
