Cuyahoga and the surrounding counties could receive about $133 million in the state’s $2.6 billion capital budget for the next two years.

Read the full capital budget breakdown here.

About $95.7 million of that money would go to renovations, repairs and other projects connected to colleges and universities in the seven-county area.

For instance, almost $2.9 million is proposed for the new center for education and workforce in Akron run by Stark State.

But schools aren’t the only ones getting money.

State lawmakers are proposing $2.5 million to shore up Irishtown Bend, the unstable hillside along the Cuyahoga River in Ohio City.

A number of arts projects may get money, too, including the Akron Civic Theater restoration, Karamu House, and the Glenville Arts Campus.

The capital budget would support addiction recovery across Northeast Ohio. One example: half a million dollars earmarked to help turn the former Golden Acres Nursing Home in Amherst Township into an opioid recovery center.

More than $1 million would go to public television stations across the state, including WVIZ. ideastream could receive $99,119 for upgrades to the station antenna and transmitter equipment.
