Board members at the Holden Arboretum, an occasional WCPN underwriter, voted last night to merge with another Northeast Ohio staple--the Cleveland Botanical Garden. The garden has faced financial woes over the last decade, complicated by a significant blow to its endowment by the Great Recession. Holden gains more visibility; and the garden gets solvency. And, as Plain Dealer reporter Michelle Jarboe McFee explains to ideastream's Tony Ganzer, there also may be a lesson here for other non-profits in management of risk.
