Kasich Opposes Extra Government spending

Share on Facebook Share Share on Twitter Share

It doesn’t happen often, but Governor John Kasich is frustrated at his fellow Republicans in the legislature. For two reasons: First, GOP state representatives have voted for 30 million extra state dollars for nursing homes. And second, the Republican lawmakers are leaving the door open to spending part of a growing budget surplus on schools and cities later this year. The governor begins his critique with a laugh.
If the final version of a budget adjustment bill that legislators are working on has new spending the governor opposes, Kasich has the power to block it with a veto.
