Kasich to Drillers: Ballot Initiative Could Tax More Than I Would

One of Gov. John Kasich’s top goals in 2013 is to finally convince Ohio legislators to hike the severance tax on oil and gas drillers and use the revenue to enact a cut in the state income tax. Kasich is a Republican, but he’s had a tough time convincing his fellow Republicans who dominate the Ohio Senate and House, because they’ve sided with an industry group that’s opposed to being taxed more. Recently, the governor has been trying out a new bit of rhetoric to make his case. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen reports.
