Lawmakers' Healthcare Tour Kicks Off

Nearly 150 health care professionals, advocates and area residents turned out Monday to tell Ohio's leaders the problems they see in Ohio's health care system. People spoke about loosing their health coverage and then their jobs due to illness, their struggles to pay premiums in excess of $1,000 a month, and how they thought a more prominent role of pharmacists or fully transparent medical prices could reduce the cost of care. Senator Kevin Coughlin of Cuyahoga Falls and Chairman of the Senate Healthcare Reform Committee says just how to bring all Ohioans quality, affordable health care isn't clear, and hearing from a variety of people in the state will help.

Kevin Coughlin: Just as we are a diverse and complicated state, the solution to this is going to be diverse and complicated. Its not going to be something where we say 'Ah ha,' and we've got the magic bullet.

Tomorrow the Healthcare Tour, as it's called, stops in Toledo, followed by Zanesville, Springfield, and Cincinnati.
