Local Democrats React To Presidential Debate

Cuyahoga County Treasurer Jim Rokakis was one of two dozen members of the Rocky River Democratic Club to turn out at the Beachcliff. Rokakis said he was disappointed the two candidates didn't talk much about foreclosures. But, he was very adamant about who he supported - Barack Obama - and suggested Hillary Clinton was a little overbearing.

Jim Rokakis: I think she didn't give Obama much of a chance to answer and I don't know if anybody's going to put a timer to the first portion of the debate. I just think she was so strident that she came off as shrill.

Others praised Clinton for her experience, and for her dedication to labor. The economy and healthcare were hot topics for the crowd packed into the tavern’s back room. At the debate’s conclusion some were still undecided on which candidate to support. They’ve got less than a week to make up their minds.
