Potential homeowners have a new option on Cleveland’s West Side: tiny houses. On Friday, the Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization, Citizens’ Bank, and Sutton Development Group completed construction of two so-called ‘tiny houses.’
The homes are 583 square feet, and share a single lot on West 58 th and Pear Avenue in the Detroit Shoreway EcoVillage.
Project Manager Adam Davenport says these homes fit into and add to the EcoVillage’s existing model.
"We also wanted to see the capabilities for first floor living," he said. "So, how do you age in place? Does that mean downsizing? Can that mean tiny house? I think it can. I think we started a pretty unique conversation about housing in Cleveland, and now that this project is coming to a conclusion it’s exciting to see where it’ll go from here."
The neighborhood is close to the West 65th Rapid Station, and is already known for transit-oriented and green development.
One house will be placed on the market immediately. The other house will not enter the market until the end of the summer. The Detroit Shoreway also plans to host four social media stars working with a local newspaper during the Republican National Convention.
