Mary Shelley's Frankenstein Shows Staying Power 200 Years Later

Two centuries have passed since Mary Shelley first published her novel, Frankenstein. An early example of science fiction, it follows a young scientist, obsessed with bringing the dead back to life.

Now celebrating its 200th birthday, Shelley's novel continues to hold relevance today. Hiram College is hosting a community reading program in Portage and Geauga counties over the next month focused on the novel and its lasting impact. Professor Kirsten Parkinson, director of the Lindsay-Crane Center for Writing and Literature at Hiram College, joined RIck Jackson to discuss the novel's staying power.
