Slaves' letters give Cleveland family a glimpse into its past -- and America's

Today in Charlottesville, Virginia; a Cleveland woman and her family witnessed a piece of their family's history.

University of Virginia officials dedicated a building in honor of their ancestor, a former slave who helped build structures on the campus more than 200 years ago. This is one way the university is recognizing the role of slavery at the institution.

But for this family, it is a way to know their past –through the letters that Peyton and Lucy Skipwith wrote, to their 'master'.

Ideastream's Darrielle Snipes has more on the letters written by two generations of the Skipwith family.
