Let's turn our attention to the cool work that some of you are up to in this week's A P lus. We're recognizing two especially creative students who turned a math challenge into a comic book.
Their names are Henri and Ian, they're in the fifth grade at Munroe Elementary in Tallmadge. Their teacher, Ms. Valentine, told us that the boys co-created an 18 page comic book in response to this challenge, develop a presentation that you could present to a new student entering fifth grade who might not know much about place value.
The comic features hero, Agent Math, who must thwart the evil deeds of villain, Brainwash, who made kids forget about place value with a forgetful cookie. Agent Math rushes to the school to provide math time and re-teach the confused students what they have forgotten about place value. With some skillful teaching, soon the students remember their math skills and they join Agent Math to defeat Brainwash through the use of their powerful math.
Wow, goes to show ya that there's all kinds of amazing things you can do with math skills. And we sure can see why Ms. Valentine wanted to share this creative project. So Henri and Ian, you've earned this week's NewsDepth A plus.
