Attorney General Eric Holder Announces Resignation

Eric Holder is leaving his job after six years as head of the justice department. Holder is the nation's 82nd attorney general. The attorney general is appointed by the president - and upon approval from the senate - serves on the president's cabinet and is the chief law enforcement officer of the United States.

Holder is the first African-American to hold the office in its 225 years.

He will stay in the position until his successor is confirmed by the senate, after that person is chosen by President Obama.
