NewsDepth Inbox: Season 48 - Episode #9

NEWSDEPTH QUESTION OF THE WEEK:  In this week's episode, we learn about the service of veterans. We want to know about a veteran in your life. Tell us who they are and how they served our country!

Isabel, Maryland Elementary:  Today I will be telling you about my great-grandpa James who served in the air force during World War II. He was a bomber pilot flying a B-17 in the 100th bomb group. What he loved most about the job is that he knew he was doing it to protect our country. The worst part of his journey was he got shot in the leg, but he was lucky to survive and he earned a Purple Heart. When he wasn't in the Air Force he was an attorney and Speaker of the House for Ohio.  He had many missions while being in the Air Force.

Grant, Northfield Elementary:  My grandpa’s name is Tim.  He served in the Navy.  He enlisted himself into the Navy.  He fought in Vietnam.  He lived unlike a bunch of other people.  He also crossed the equator while serving.  He gave me part of my freedom and that’s why he’s important to me.

Christian, Central Trail Elementary:  My grandpa was in the Marines and his name is Al. He served for six years during the Vietnam War but, he never fought in the War.  He was a ground troop in the Marines and he almost had to fight in the Vietnam War. This is how long he served for, 1963-1969. I just want to say thank you for your service and I am proud of my grandpa.

Olivia, Monroe Elementary:  My brother Luke served in the Army for two years (2015-2017). He moved to El Paso, Texas with his wife and his daughter. They came back to Ohio last May. I am very proud of him for putting himself in danger for our country.  I thank all veterans for serving our country. God Bless America!

Cameron, Cloverleaf Elementary:  My brother is in the Army and he is a Corporal he is at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He came home for the first time in two years from Vilseck, Germany. He was deployed to Poland for two months and Egypt for nine months. When he came home I was so excited.
