NewsDepth Inbox: Season 49 - Episode #9

This week we asked you tell us about a veteran in your life. Here are some more of your answers!

Alex, Copley Fairlawn Middle School: Dear NewsDepth, I would like to tell you about my veteran. He was my grandpa. He served in the Army. He was an amazing man and cared a lot about me and my brothers. He had lots of medals. He even had a Bronze Star medal, the 4th highest medal in the US Military given for acts of valor. He served in the Vietnam War. He died December 1st, 2017. My grandpa is my veteran.

Grace and Livia, St. Susanna School: Both of our grandpas were in the military, and we would both definitely consider them as American heroes. Even though they did not take part in battle, they still sacrificed their lives for our country. Their hard work and dedication really inspires us to appreciate our veterans and all of the work that they do. They were both in the Vietnam War.  One of them was a medic who prepared blood for wounded soldiers, and the other tracked satellites to know if ships were near. Thankfully, they made it home safely to their families, and we were lucky enough to hear their interesting stories and learn about the people who protect our country.

Khaila, Pleasant Run Elementry: I have an uncle who is a Marine. He still has his uniform in his attic, and sometimes if you beg him he'll put it on. My uncle is 38 years old now and I am very proud of him for serving our country.

Rachel, Olmsted Falls Intermediate School: My cousin David is in the army. He was stationed in Hawaii for 3 years, but now he is in Germany for 6 years! He is a big person in my life for doing that for our country! Even though I don't get to see him very often because of this I take the time to enjoy it while he is here, and I'm looking forward to being able to say "thank you!" to all the people that have done this wonderful thing for our country, and I'm very thankful! Thank you!

Laynee, Jackson Center Ohio Schools: A veteran in my life was my great grandpa. He just passed 2 years ago and I miss him terribly. He was a marine and fought in the Korean war. My great grandpa would take goods and supplies like food, water, guns and if needed to he would go fight himself. But he would move base to base almost every 2 months. Thank you grandpa and all veterans!!

Ellie, Strausser Elementary: The veterans in my life are my grandpas. Both of my grandpa's served in the Vietnam War. They were both in the Air Force. They both helped the wounded soldiers up aboard the aircrafts. Both of my grandpas are very brave and important to me. I'm very proud of them for saving  the soldiers from passing away. Those are my veterans that are in my life.
