WELL THE WINTER IS TIME FOR MANY LIGHT THEMED HOLIDAYS AND CELEBRATIONS. PEOPLE OF THE JEWISH FAITH WILL BE CELEBRATING HANUKKAH FROM DECEMBER 12 TO THE 20TH. THEIR FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS COMMEMORATES THE NIGHT THEY RECLAIMED A HOLY TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM. THE PEOPLE LIT A MENORAH WITH A ONE DAY SUPPLY OF OIL THAT ENDED UP LASTING FOR EIGHT DAYS.

SOME AFRICAN AMERICANS WILL BE CELEBRATING KWANZAA. FROM DECEMBER 26TH TO JANUARY FIRST THEY CELEBRATE AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURE AND HERITAGE BY LIGHTING CANDLES ON A KINARA.

HINDUS, SIKHS AND BUDDISTS ALREADY CELEBRATED THEIR FESTIVAL, DIWALI IN NOVEMBER. THEY COMMEMORATE THE TRIUMPH OF GOOD OVER EVIL – LIGHT OVER DARKNESS.

AND FOR PEOPLE OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH, CHRISTMAS ON DECEMBER 25TH IS A TIME TO CELEBRATE THE BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST, WHO THEY CALL THE “LIGHT OF THE WORLD.”
