We hear a lot about thriving, trendy city neighborhoods or struggling neighborhoods that need lots of help. Often overlooked are so-called middle neighborhoods, like Cleveland's Old Brooklyn or Lee-Harvard. But almost half of city residents across the country live in these middle neighborhoods. Advocates say cities take them for granted at their own peril. Join The Sound of Ideas for discussion with local leaders. Then, we'll send off Lauren Onkey, the next head of NPR music, whose spent her career in Cleveland at the intersection of music and culture working at the Rock Hall and Tri-C's Humanities Center.

-Paul Brophy, Editor, On the Edge: America’s Middle Neighborhoods

-Jeff Verespej, Executive Director, Old Brooklyn Community Development Corporation

-Terrell Pruitt, Ward 1 Councilman, City of Cleveland

-Mary Mastalski, Community Development Manager, City of Euclid

-Lauren Onkey, Chair and Dean, Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Humanities Center, Cuyahoga Community College
