5 Online Arts Options for Northeast Ohio Jan. 14-20

The weekend kicks off with a virtual bang of music before becoming more poetic and solemn for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Here are five online options from Northeast Ohio artists and arts institutions.

Brite Winter

The annual Brite Winter Music Festival was one of the few arts events in Northeast Ohio to be held in 2020. This year Brite Winter goes virtual with its monthly " TwiBrite Zone" webcast on YouTube and Facebook starting Friday, January 15, at 7 p.m.

Cleveland Jazz Orchestra

The CJO gets back onstage at the Bop Stop with its Little Big Band Livestream in anticipation of MLK Day Sunday, January 17, at 8:15 p.m. The program, " The Blues and the Self Evident Truth," is presented in partnership with Roots of American Music and can be viewed on Facebook.

Cleveland Orchestra

The Cleveland Orchestra hosts an online MLK Day Celebration Concert starting Thursday, January 14, with an encore of its 2018 concert on its Adella streaming service and then on WVIZ/PBS  January, 17, at 4 p.m.. Additional performances will be released on the orchestra's social channels on Monday, January 18.

Cleveland Museum of Art

CMA is offering a special MLK Day program, " Becoming a Beloved Community," streaming Monday, January 18, at 6 p.m. The online program includes Rev. Dr. Jawanza Colvin from Olivet Baptist Institutional Church and poets Honey Bell-Bey and Orlando Watson.

Cuyahoga County Public Library

The library is hosting a special MLK Day virtual presentation " 1963: A Year in the Life of a Nation" focusing on the year Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. met Jewish civil rights activist Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel. The program takes place on Zoom Monday, January 18, at noon.
