The National Touring Company of "The Prom" marks the return of Playhouse Square's Broadway series.

All the world's a stage once again as theaters across Northeast Ohio raise curtains and shine spotlights on new productions for live in-person audiences.

Here are just five of the shows onstage now to add to your arts and cultural to-do list this week.

"The Prom"

Playhouse Square's highly anticipated Broadway season returns with the award-winning musical " The Prom" about a group of New York City theater mavens saving the high school prom of an Indiana girl. The Drama Desk Award winner for best musical is onstage through Nov. 21 at the Connor Palace.

"Airness"

Dobama Theatre in Cleveland Heights presents its first main stage production since the pandemic. " Airness" by Chelsea Marcantel tells the story of Nina as she enters her first air guitar contest and the crazy characters she meets, all shredding to their favorite songs through Nov. 21.

"The Exonerated"

The Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood is in the final weekend of " The Exonerated," featuring the stories of six wrongly-convicted inmates. Derived from first-person narratives taken from the inmates' legal records, the drama is onstage through this Sunday, Nov. 7.

"Chaining Zero"

Kent State University presents " Chaining Zero," written by KSU alumni John Moauro and Griffin Parsons and directed by their former theater professor Terri Kent. The musical, which follows a group of strangers stranded on a New York City subway car, is onstage Nov. 5-14 at KSU's Stump Theatre.

"The Merry Wives of Windsor"

Lake Erie College stages Shakespeare's comedy " The Merry Wives of Windsor" in all its Falstaffian glory at its Royce Hall for the Fine and Performing Arts in Painesville. The play that Shakespeare wrote at the request of England's Queen Elizabeth I is available for both in-person and virtual attendance through Nov. 13.
