Blank Canvas Theatre brings back "The Texas Chainsaw Musical" for the Halloween season.

The Halloween weekend brings both scary and spiritual events to Northeast Ohio from Blank Canvas Theatre's petrifying production to Cleveland Public Theatre's annual "Day of the Dead" festivities.

Here are five arts and culture opportunities to add to your to-do list.

"The Texas Chainsaw Musical"

Blank Canvas Theatre brings back its hit from 2012, " The Texas Chainsaw Musical," with its infamous "splatter zone" featuring more than 15 gallons of fake blood. The comedic coming of age story about a handsome, young serial killer is onstage Thursday through Saturday night.

Día de Muertos

The cherished Mexican and Latin American holiday Día de Muertos honors loved ones who have passed with artistic altar installations at Cleveland Public Theatre. The Day of the Dead festivities also include Latin food and live music on the CPT campus in the Gordon Square Arts District Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Haunted Cinematheque

The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque screens five frightening films for its Haunted Cinematheque series this weekend. From Spike Lee's comedy-horror anthology to a forgotten masterpiece from the 1940s to a disgusting debut by a Cannes prize-winning director, the series is sure to scare up some screams.

"The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

The Kent Stage screens " The Rocky Horror Picture Show" from 1975 starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick for the Halloween weekend. Fans of the cult classic are encouraged to dress up and do the "Time Warp" again Saturday night at 11 p.m. for a midnight screening.

Harry Potter Wizarding Walk

The Lorain Public Library hosts a Harry Potter Wizarding Walk for fans of J.K Rowling's books, films and the popular "Wizards Unite" game. Players use the augmented reality phone app to virtually visit locations, cast spells, interact with characters and fight mythical beasts at the Columbia branch Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
