Armond Budish Vastly Outspends Peter Corrigan In Cuyahoga County Executive Race

Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish has outspent Republican challenger Peter Corrigan almost 12 to 1, according to the last campaign finance filing before the Nov. 6 general election.

Budish has long been described as a strong fundraiser, going back before his days as speaker of the Ohio House.

Since June, he’s raised $480,000 for his reelection bid. Over that same period, he spent more than $840,000—including payments for advertising, mailers and consulting.

Budish has also given significant sums to the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party and the slate of statewide candidates. He has also made smaller donations to local Democratic candidates for judge. 

Corrigan has both raised and spent about $70,000 since June. He ran in the primary as a write-in candidate.

Budish enters the final stretch of the campaign with 11 times as much money as Corrigan. The Democrat reported about $345,000 on hand, compared to the Republican's $30,800.

There have been no public polls of the county executive race. Four years ago, Budish defeated Republican County Councilman Jack Schron with almost 60 percent of the vote.
