The Summit Academy strike is over and students at the Parma charter school will head back to class on Wednesday.
Teachers and intervention specialists voted to ratify their first contract late Friday afternoon. A press release from the Ohio Federation of Teachers says the contract includes "language on class size and staffing" but does not provide details.
For nine days some two dozen union members walked the picket line in order to gain better conditions for student learning.
The contract does not include raises for teachers, but union officials say they will revisit that topic with the charter school management later in the year.
During the strike, teachers at Summit Academy in Painsville filed a petition for union recognition.
This was the first charter school in Ohio and the fourth in the nation to go on strike.
