In Cleveland’s Chronically Under-Invested Kinsman Neighborhood, Developers Try An Innovative, Low-Cost Approach To Spur Retail

Can recycled shipping containers really be turned into storefronts? Can a handful of them make up a brand new business district?  And can these metal boxes help transform a neighborhood? Those are the hopes of the Burten Bell Carr Community Development Corporation.

The nonprofit plans to build what they call "Box spot." It would go up in the Kinsman neighborhood on Cleveland's East Side.
A series of shipping containers will house locally-owned start-up businesses that would:
Reinforce one another; bring people and dollars to the neighborhood; and improve the community.
