A Plus: Young, Aspiring Authors Draw Inspiration from Pet Guinea Pig

Our A Plus this week is definitely one for Newscat to bookmark.

This week we’re featuring one young writer who is working to make her dream of being an author a reality.

Georgia is a fourth grader from Hartsville. She developed a knack for writing, and along with two of her friends, she’s working on her first book.

The Two Zs and the Robot Guinea Pig” was inspired by Zebby, her pet guinea pig.

Georgia says, “We chose to write it because at the end of third grade I started drawing pictures of my guinea pig as a superhero, and then I started talking about that with my friends who sat with me on the bus, and that gave us the idea to write about super hero guinea pigs and evil villain guinea pigs.”

The girls work on the book daily and have already written several chapters. “I think it’s important because I thought it would be a fun experience with my friends and to try something new, even though we’re only 9 and 10 years old.”

Love that ambition! Congrats to Georgia and her co-authors. For your hard work, we’re awarding them this week’s Newsdepth A Plus.
