Buckeye Beat: Kayakers clean river

RIVERS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A TREASURED ASSET FOR COMMUNITIES, BUT SOMETIMES WE’RE GUILTY OF NOT TAKING CARE OF THEM AS MUCH AS WE SHOULD. POLLUTION CAUSED BY PEOPLE CAN BE A REAL PROBLEM FOR THE ANIMALS THAT DEPEND ON RIVERS TOO. NOW A GROUP OF KAYAKERS IN LORAIN COUNTY ARE TRYING TO TAKE BACK THE BLACK RIVER IN THEIR TOWN THAT NEEDS A LITTLE CLEANING UP. SOMETHING YOU’LL HEAR ABOUT IN THIS NEXT STORY IS INVASIVE SPECIES. AN INVASIVE SPECIES IS ANY PLANT OR ANIMAL THAT IS OUT OF PLACE IN AN ENVIRONMENT. SOMETIMES THESE FAR AWAY ORGANISMS CAN CAUSE TROUBLE FOR THE REGULAR PLANTS AND ANIMALS THAT CALL A PLACE HOME.
