Last week's poll, This week's Inbox

IN LAST WEEK’S POLL, WE ASKED “DID YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW PARTICIPATE IN THE WOMEN'S MARCH?” MOST OF YOU -- 73% -- SAID NO.

WE ALSO ASKED YOU TO WRITE IN AND TELL US WHAT YOU WOULD MARCH FOR – LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT YOU HAD TO SAY BY OPENING OUR INBOX:

[INBOX]

JOEY FROM WESTWOOD ELEMENTARY STARTS US OFF, AND HE WRITES: IF I WOULD PUT TOGETHER A MARCH IN MY CITY, IT WOULD BE TO PROTEST AGAINST LITTERING BECAUSE IT CAN HURT OUR CITY VERY BAD. FOR ONE THING, IT WOULD CAUSE POLLUTION FOR THE LAKE AND IT CAN KILL THE ANIMALS THAT LIVE IN THE WATER. ALSO, IT CAN RUIN AND MAKE OUR NICE CITY INTO A HUGE GARBAGE AREA.

MRS BAKER FROM NEW KNOXVILLE LOCAL SENT US THIS REPORT ABOUT HER CLASS: MY STUDENTS SAID THEY WOULD PROTEST OR MARCH IN SUPPORT OF CANCER RESEARCH AND TREATMENT. THE STORY ABOUT THE ELEPHANT PROTEIN GOT US THINKING ABOUT HOW LONG IT TAKES FOR CANCER TREATMENTS TO BECOME AVAILABLE. IF THE TREATMENT WORKS ON ANIMALS, MY STUDENTS WERE HOPING IT COULD BE TESTED ON HUMANS SOONER THAN 3 YEARS FROM NOW. WE'RE ALL HOPING A CURE FOR CANCER IS FOUND VERY SOON!

DANIELLE FROM AVON HERITAGE ELEMENTARY TOLD US WHAT WOULD GET HER TO MARCH: I WOULD MARCH FOR EQUAL RIGHTS AND SO PEOPLE BIG AND SMALL WOULD BE TREATED FAIRLY, LIKE THEY SAY, “TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED.” THAT IS WHY I WOULD MARCH.

IAN FROM MARYLAND ELEMENTARY ALSO BELIEVES IN A SPECIFIC KIND OF EQUALITY, TELLING US:
IF I HAD TO ORGANIZE A PROTEST IT WOULD BE ABOUT EQUAL PAY. EQUAL PAY IS A REAL PROBLEM IN AMERICA I KNOW OF A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO DON’T GET THE PAY THAT THEY DESERVE AND THAT’S NOT RIGHT, I BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE SHOULD GET PAID BY WHAT THEY DO NOT WHAT THEY ARE.

FINALLY, CHARLOTTE FROM ROCKY RIVER MIDDLE SCHOOL SENT US THIS NOTE ABOUT THE WOMEN’S MARCH: I WENT TO THE WOMEN'S MARCH ON WASHINGTON AND IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE! IT WAS A GREAT MEMORY BECAUSE OF EVERYONE BEING SO OPEN MINDED. I ENJOYED IT A LOT BECAUSE OF THE PEACEFUL PROTESTS AND NOT CHAOS. THE DIVERSITY THAT WAS THERE WAS THE STRONGEST I'VE EVER SEEN WITH PEOPLE PRESENT FROM AGES 0 TO 80. I FEEL THAT IT SHOWED LOVE IN A WAY I CAN'T EXPLAIN AND THAT PEOPLE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

THANKS FOR SHARING CHARLOTTE – AND THANKS ALSO TO IAN, DANIELLE, MRS BAKER’S CLASS, AND JOEY FOR WRITING US SOME PASSIONATE LETTERS THIS WEEK! KEEP UP THE GREAT WRITING – WE LOVE HEARING FROM YOU.
