Trump chosen as president

AFTER AN UNPREDICTABLE ELECTION, ONE LAST TWIST – ON ELECTION DAY. HELLO, EVERYBODY. I’M RICK JACKSON. THANKS FOR JOINING US. NEARLY ALL THE POLLS PREDICTED AN EASY WIN FOR FORMER SECRETARY OF STATE HILLARY CLINTON, BUT THAT’S NOT EXACTLY HOW THINGS PANNED OUT OF ELECTION DAY…UP FIRST, WE BREAK DOWN THE ELECTION NIGHT RESULTS FOR YOU – AND TELL YOU ABOUT THE MANY SURPRISES!

Pence: So let me say, it is my high honor and distinct privilege to introduce to you the President-elect of the United States of America, Donald Trump

IN A MAJOR UPSET, BUSINESSMAN DONALD TRUMP WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES LAST TUESDAY, DEFEATING DEMOCRATIC RIVAL HILLARY CLINTON.

Trump: "Now it's time for American to bind the wounds of division...to all Republicans and Democrats and Independents across this nation, I say it is time for us to come together as one united people."

AS A REMINDER, THE PRESIDENT IS ELECTED BY ELECTORAL VOTES – AND EACH STATE DESIGNATES THEIR ELECTORAL VOTES TO A CERTAIN CANDIDATE. FOR INSTANCE, IN OHIO, THE POPULAR VOTE – THE VOTES OF THE PEOPLE – WENT TO TRUMP AT 52%, SO DONALD TRUMP WON ALL OF OHIO’S ELECTORAL VOTES. TO WIN THE WHITE HOUSE, A CANDIDATE MUST REACH 270 ELECTORAL VOTES. AFTER WINNING 276 VOTES TUESDAY NIGHT, TRUMP WAS DECLARED THE WINNER -- ALTHOUGH IT IS STILL LIKELY THAT HILLARY CLINTON WON THE NATIONAL POPULAR VOTE. TRUMP’S UNLIKELY PATH TO VICTORY WAS SECURED WHEN HE WON MAJOR SWING STATES: FLORIDA, PENNSYLVANIA, AND OHIO.

DOWN BALLOT IN OHIO, INCUMBENT SENATOR ROB PORTMAN CRUISED TO AN EASY VICTORY, WINNING 58% OF THE VOTE, DEFEATING FORMER GOVERNOR TED STRICKLAND. LAST WEEK, WE ALSO TOLD YOU ABOUT SEVERAL TAXES ON BALLOTS ACROSS THE STATE MEANT TO IMPROVE SCHOOLS – ISSUE 44 IN CINCINNATI, ISSUE 57 IN COLUMBUS, AND ISSUE 108 IN CLEVELAND WERE ALL EASILY APPROVED BY VOTERS. IN OHIO, AND ACROSS THE COUNTRY, VOTERS HAVE SPOKEN – AND WE CAN FINALLY PUT ELECTION DAY BEHIND US!
