Weekend In-Person Voting Starts, And The Budget Process Goes On Behind The Scenes

It’s a huge weekend in Ohio – the first weekend of in person early voting, with just a little over a week until Election Day. And the major party candidates spent plenty of time in Ohio this week. And the numbers are down all across the board on early voting. The chairs of Ohio’s two major political parties are carefully watching those numbers, and their own models which show more detail, such as the party affiliation of early voters, and how likely individual voters are to cast ballots for their party.  And Ohio Republican Party Chair Matt Borges confirms that he does indeed intend to vote for Donald Trump.

It’s a felony in Ohio for a voter to take a picture of a filled-out ballot and post it on social media. Rep. Michael Duffey (R-Worthington) wants to change that, saying it's unconstitutional and that it's not being prosecuted.

In spite of Ohio getting so much attention every four years – or perhaps because Ohio does – voters have a lot of questions. Statehouse correspondent Andy Chow went to Facebook and Twitter to find out what voters want to know before making your vote, then took those questions to Ohio Secretary of State Spokesperson Joshua Eck.

There are those in state government who are looking past this election to what’s ahead – the lame duck session coming up, the incoming 132 nd General Assembly, and the upcoming budget process. State budget director Tim Keen talks about first quarter income tax revenue coming in under estimates, and what that might mean for the future.
