WCLV voters selected the story from Hayward, California, in which an animal control officer climbed down a storm drain and used a recording of "mama duck sounds" on her phone to rescue 11 ducklings that had fallen through a grate while walking with their mother. Placing second was the story of Jessie, the dog who, with her mouth, rescued her fellow canine, Chucky, when the latter fell into the family's swimming pool in South Africa.
