- Bentley, a 135-lb. Saint Bernard, who escaped his yard and walked into a Bradenton, Fla. Dollar General store, where he browsed for several hours and was not inclined to leave at closing time. Police checked the dog’s microchip and summoned the owner, who was grateful that the store and officers looked after Bentley;
- The dog in Kansas that stood on its hind legs and, with the touch of a paw, inadvertently turned on the kitchen stove, which ignited a pan of food on the burner causing a fire. Fire officials cautioned that touch controls on stoves can be easily be activated by children and pets;
- “Lemu,” a baby emu at a North Carolina special needs animal sanctuary, who, due to walking difficulties resulting from a slipped tendon, was fitted with a custom wheelchair and now runs freely with her new set of wheels;
- Karen, an alligator that was a passenger in a car that fled from a traffic stop in Michigan. The driver ultimately was taken into custody following a chase. Karen was apprehended but not arrested, as she was not considered to be in control of the vehicle;
- Martha, the brown dog that appears as a blur on a 16-second TikTok video as she catches foam discs at lightning speed.
